The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 16-55 mm f/2.8 R LM WR delivers a field of you of 24-83mm (compared to the 35mm System). It can be used for about any situation where you don’t want to switch between primes and the aperture fit’s your needs.
It covers the 18mm F2 and is optically even better…except missing that one stop and the size.
It covers the 56mm F1.2 and focuses faster, much faster …at cost of 2+1/3 stops.
It covers the 35mm F1.4 and focuses much faster …at cost of 2 stops.
The lense is sharp and contrasty with a nice bokeh. Of course the amount of background ground blur is not quite on the level of thel - compared to primes, compared to other zooms of course the aperture is top notch. At the given aperture it is up on the level of the primes in terms of sharpness in real world situation. It does NOT have image stabilization, which to me as a people and studio photographer is not really a topic. People usualy require higher shutter speeds anyway, and as soon flash is involved, the IS is not really what I need.

Auto Focus works fast and accurate. It is the best auto focus from fuji as of today. Even in low light, where all my fuji lenses struggle, it still catches the subject.
It’s far better then the 35mm, 56mm and 60mm.
The lense is on the heavy side for what fuji users are used to. Still it handles generally good. Compared to other camera system it is still a light weight lense for the performance it delivers.
I love that it has a „fixed“ aperture ring (unlike the f2.8-4, which has a „floating“ aperture ring), so at any time I can see at what aperture I am, even if the camera is still off.
Highly recommended lense. Saves yourselves from changing lenses in certain situation on the road, at the cost of 1-2 stops, and a bigger weight(which becomes relative, if you don’t have to carry all the other lenses). If you shoot events or need to adopt to many settings, this is the lense. If you only want to buy one lense, probably this is the best choice too.
